Robert B. Holman is the 2010 recipient of the NAILTA Cup Award which recognizes an individual in the title insurance industry who promotes and defends the principles of the independent land title agent.  This award was given at NAILTA’s annual conference in Atlantic City, NJ.

Rob is a founding member of NAILTA and currently serves as NAILTA’s Secretary and Chairman of NAILTA’s policy and legal affairs committee.  Rob started in the title insurance industry in 1999.  Rob graduated from Indiana University – Bloomington with a B.A. in History and obtained a law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in Akron, Ohio. Rob is currently the President of General Title Insurance Company, an independently-owned and operated regional title insurance underwriter located in Cleveland, Ohio which is licensed to do business in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.  Rob is also a practicing real estate attorney with the law firm of Holman, Frank & McDonald, located in Cleveland, Ohio.

When asked to respond to the criticism that underwriters have too often ignored independent agent issues, Mr. Holman stated, “It’s a weak criticism to assume that all underwriters — national or regional — are created equal when it comes to the treatment of independent agents.  NAILTA has been approached by some of the best underwriters in the country to help independent agents get and maintain their voice.  None of these companies can be described as indifferent to these issues.”

Mr. Holman continued, “Underwriters can play a role in helping to better the conditions for independent agents.  I am happy to be a part of that effort and I encourage my colleagues to join NAILTA for that purpose.”
