The Louisiana Association of Independent Land Title Agents (LAILTA) held their inaugural seminar and meeting in Baton Rouge, LA on November 4, 2011, where those in attendance received 6 hours of MCLE for the State Bar Association and 6 hours CE for the Department of Insurance Title Producer License. The Board of Directors were elected and a Legislative Committee was established. A plan was made for a Spring conference to discuss the bills being introduced in the upcoming legislature.
Robert B. Holman, Secretary and Chairman of NAILTA’s policy and legal affairs committee spoke at the event on the topic of national trends concerning modern independent land title agents.
The session was attended by over 55 LA attorneys and LAILTA members, including representatives from Stewart Title, WFG Title and Security Title of Baltimore – all interested underwriters in the new organization. LAILTA is going to utilize OAITA’s Settlement Preference Survey in LA for use this year and collect data much the same as they did in 2009 and 2010.
