NAILTA Asks Kentucky Legislature to Protect Small Business Owners in Proposed E-Notary Legislation

We provided the enclosed letter on behalf of our Kentucky membership and concerned independent real estate settlement service professionals throughout the state to address new legislation working its way through the Kentucky General Assembly that will impact real estate closings and title insurance providers.

NAILTA remains committed to protecting small business owners in our industry and preventing unnecessary risks to real estate consumers.  Legislation moving through the Kentucky General Assembly this fall will attempt to create e-notarization pathways that allow remote notarizations to replace many of the traditional protections for business and consumers alike.

New technologies are always ahead of dated laws.  However, when updated laws make it more likely that fraud and reductions to consumer protections provided by our membership will occur, NAILTA is committed to addressing it in our members’ favor.

We will continue to watch this bill and others like it in jurisdictions around the United States.
